Steve Lex and Jack Quigley have been friends, colleagues and partners in their plastic surgery practice for many years. The two met while doing their general surgery residencies together at the Case Western Reserve Care System in Ohio in the early 1980s. During that time, they not only became close friends but found that they shared many interests outside of medicine, such as kayaking, hiking, biking and other sports. They both consider it their good fortune to have been able to continue their friendship while establishing a state-of-the-art plastic surgery practice and ambulatory surgery center in Flagstaff, a location perfectly suited to their professional and personal interests.
Alan Durkin joined doctors Lex and Quigley at Plastic Surgeons of Northern Arizona in 2009 after completing his residency in plastic surgery at the University of South Florida in Tampa. He shares his partners' enthusiasm for both outdoor adventure and the delivery of a comprehensive plastic surgery practice. Here in northern Arizona, not only can the doctors provide the full array of cosmetic procedures, but they also use their special training and skills for everything from cancer reconstruction, to the repair of traumatic injuries to the hand and face, to the treatment of carpal tunnel syndrome and other hand disorders, to the repair of congenital defects such as cleft lip/cleft palate. Dr. Durkin's special surgical interests include comprehensive skin cancer care, craniofacial reconstruction, facial rejuvenation, and breast and body contouring.
The three doctors agree that some of their most satisfying work has been with children. Cases involving children afford them a longer physician-patient relationship than the average. The doctors find it especially rewarding to improve a child's life by repairing a congenital anomaly or reconstructing an essential body part. All three doctors are trained in microsurgery and have the expertise to perform the reattachment of traumatically amputated fingers, hands or even arms.
Steve Lex, Jack Quigley and Alan Durkin all find great fulfillment in their work and feel that is a privilege to live and practice medicine in such a wonderful community and setting.
