She then spent one year overseas in Egypt as a Physician Assistant in Internal Medicine and Family Practice. Maureen resumed her Plastic Surgery career in 2000, working in a private practice in Glenwood Springs, Colorado, in both Plastic and Reconstructive surgery.

In 2006, she accepted a position at The Mayo Clinic hospital in Phoenix, Arizona, working in both ENT and Plastic Surgery. She joined Plastic Surgeons of Northern Arizona in September, 2007.

Doctors Lex and Quigley met while doing general surgery residencies together at the Case Western Reserve Care System. During that time, they not only became close friends but found that they shared many interests outside medicine, such as kayaking, hiking and biking. Dr. Bruggeman joined Plastic Surgeons of Northern Arizona in the summer of 2003, following completion of his residency in plastic and reconstructive surgery. Having grown up in Idaho, Dr. Bruggeman shares a love of the outdoors with Doctors Lex and Quigley.

Doctors Lex, Quigley and Bruggeman all agree that some of their most satisfying work has been with children. Cases involving children afford them a longer physician-patient relationship than the average. The doctors find it especially rewarding to improve a child's life by repairing a congenital anomaly or reconstructing an essential body part. All three doctors are trained in microsurgery and have the expertise to perform reattachment of traumatically amputated fingers, hands or arms.

Steve Lex, Jack Quigley, Brian Bruggeman and Maureen Hurley all find great fulfillment in their work and feel that it is a great privilege to live and work in such a wonderful community and setting.
