Cosmetic
surgery of the nose, technically known as Rhinoplasty,
is a widely performed procedure. Rhinoplasty can improve the size
and shape of the nose, resulting in a better balance between the nose
and the remainder of a person's facial features. A significant improvement
in the overall appearance of the face can result. Rhinoplasty is generally
not performed until the patient's nose is fully developed. Thus, it
is typically not done until patients are at least 14 years old or
older. There is no upper age limit for the procedure, assuming reasonably
good health of the patient. Along with aesthetic improvement, rhinoplasty
can sometimes be used to correct certain breathing problems related
to the structure of the nose. If you feel that your nose is too large,
too wide, too asymmetrical or crooked, or otherwise displeasing in
appearance, you may be a good candidate for rhinoplasty.
